Open Studio Practice is a way for students to use the Pilates room under little or no supervision. It is only students who have proved that they’ve learned the exercises, equipment, and techniques, who are eligible. Core Cat has been offering this format to a select number of students ever since its inception. It continues today – tweaks added!
We invite Open Studio students to take notes inside the grid sheet below. We recommend that all the categories on the left side be used for a comprehensive and balanced workout. (If a student spends forty-five minutes lying down on their back, and fifteen minutes lying on their side, it is not going to be a very balanced program!)

Following the protocol here a student will be writing something to the right of each of the six categories (Supine, Seated, Quadruped, Sidelying, Prone, Standing/Kneeling). A beginning level student may have anywhere from nine to twelve exercises in their studio hour. It’s fine if MOST of them are supine, but something from the other categories should also appear. An intermediate student will have plenty of Quadruped and Standing/Kneeling exercises checked off.
